Not the first brand you'd think of when it comes to touring car racing - or indeed motorsport in general - but Infiniti occupies a fascinatingly unusual place in modern BTCC history. A brand that should by all logic have a record as relatively unremarkable as the likes of Lexus or Proton, Nissan's luxury arm somehow has more drivers' titles in the championship than its parent company.
It took an unexpected rebirth of the Q50 NGTC for that success to be achieved, but that's what makes its BTCC success all the more incredible. Unsurprisingly, Infiniti has had very little presence in production-based motorsport beyond this; although maybe it ought to consider it given its strike rate so far...
